Student Safety and Security

Posted Date: 9/30/24 (9:54 AM)

Good morning Hennessey Public School parents, guardians, and families,

By now, I'm sure most everyone is aware that at the softball fields on Saturday, September 28 play money was found with traces of narcotics on the paper.

In a proactive and age-appropriate manner, our teachers and staff are visiting with their students this morning.  They are instructing the students that if play or real money is found on school property, they are not to touch it and to report it immediately to a teacher, principal, or staff member so that proper authorities can be notified and appropriate action taken.

Before school this morning, the HPS playgrounds and premises were inspected by school personnel for suspicious items prior to student arrival.  We will continue to check the playgrounds on a daily basis prior to the kids arriving and also before  lunch/recess. As part of his regular duties, Officer Solis inspects the school grounds twice daily and will continue to do so to ensure the safety of all HPS students.

The safety of our students is of the utmost importance to all staff at HPS.  The administration regularly reviews safety and security policies modifying as needed to address safety concerns as they arise.   In response to the current situation, additional security measures are being implemented.

Please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.
